I have lived in Colonie (Albany County) my entire life and have never known of the "smaller" grocery stores until recently. Have you ever heard of Save-a-Lot? I have driven past this store countless times, though for the first time in my life, and my husband and kids, we visited there yesterday, with coupons in tow!
Did you know Save-a-lot is like Aldi's and Price Rite in that they offer their brand or no-name brand items at a discounted price? They also offer name brand items, though are limited in those.
Another great thing, they not only have their own coupons, which can be accessed here, they also accept manufacturer coupons. That is how they differ from Aldi's and Price Rite, those two stores DO NOT accept coupons, not their own (they don't offer any), or manufacturer coupons.
This is not the typical store I will visit each week, like I do Price Chopper, though for some items I can get cheaper than at my local Price Chopper, I will definately check them out.
I want to pass along some great savings for me, and hopefully for you. These brands are no-name brands, though I don't feel for these items you need brand names.
Westcott Vegetable Oil 48 oz bottle $1.99 - go to their website which I have include in this post and click on "printable coupons". Once there, scan through the pages till you come to this and check for printing. This is $1.00 off bringing your total for a 48oz container of vegetable oil for .99. Now where can you get for this for such a great price? You can't! Do I hear fried chicken in my near future??? Yes er in deed. Yum-e.
Butter. How expensive has butter gotten these days? It is absolutely ridiculous! 16oz package (4 sticks) of Home Churned Butter for$1.99. Again, go to the Save-a-lot site and go to "Printable coupons", search for butter and print your coupon for .50 off, making your total per package $1.49. Great price!
Those were my 2 great finds at Save-a-lot. Maybe you can find more.
Remember, you can print as many coupons as you want. I used 4 coupon for each item and had no problem using them.
If you are looking for a Save-a-lot store near you, once at the site, you can click the box that says "find a location". I went to the Menands store, which is closest to me.
Cash, credit/debit card accepted.
FYI - You MUST bring your own bags to pack your groceries in. I always carry bags in my car, so this was routine for me to do.
Happy Savings.
